Jobscout AI: how Drivetube matches jobs to your resume

Jobscout AI is Drivetube's job matching engine. It reads your Base Resume with no settings to configure, runs six deterministic checks on every opening — country and domain, confirmed-new listing, experience range, company not already applied, no security clearance, and visa sponsorship — and scores each job 0-100 weighted on core stack identity (62 points) rather than keyword overlap. Every check is shown on the card, including failed ones in red, and jobs held back can be added anyway.

What Jobscout AI is

Jobscout AI is the job matching engine inside the Drivetube Job Hunt Program. It reads your Base Resume and nothing else — there are no filters, sliders or match-rate settings to configure. Every job it shows you carries a visible list of the checks it passed and failed, so a match is something you can audit rather than a number you have to trust.

It replaced the older settings-driven Jobscout in September 2026. The manual controls were removed because tuning them was guesswork: candidates lowered their match rate to see more jobs, saw worse jobs, and concluded the product did not work.

The six checks

Every opening runs through the same deterministic gates, and the result of each is printed on the card:

  1. Country and domain — the job is in the market and field on your Base Resume.
  2. Confirmed new listing — the posting is inside your freshness window.
  3. Experience range — the stated experience fits the years on your resume, in both directions. A role asking for far more years, or targeting a level so senior you would be screened out as over-levelled, fails here.
  4. Company not already applied — you do not already have an application with that employer.
  5. No security clearance required — clearance-gated roles are excluded.
  6. Sponsorship — postings that explicitly state they do not sponsor visas are held back. Postings that say nothing are marked as unknown rather than assumed either way.

A job that fails a check is not silently dropped. It appears in the Held back tab with the failed check shown in red, and you can add it to your list anyway.

How the match score works

Each job is scored 0–100, weighted by stack identity rather than raw keyword overlap:

Component Points
Core stack skills 62
Other skills 10
Experience fit 20
Practical signals (salary, freshness, sponsorship) 8

The distinction that matters: matching two or three programming languages is not a fit. Core stack skills are the technologies that define a stack — React, Spring Boot, Django, Kubernetes. Generic tools like Git, SQL, Docker and AWS appear on nearly every posting and carry almost no signal, so a job whose only overlap is generic is labelled "No core stack skills matched" instead of being scored as a strong match.

Job titles are deliberately not scored. A "Supply Chain Analyst" and a "Logistics Coordinator" can share every skill; scoring the title would either reward a coincidence or punish a real fit.

Freshness window

The gear next to the search box sets how far back a scan looks: 24 hours (default), 48 hours or 72 hours. 72 hours is the maximum because that is how long the job board confirms a listing as newly posted — a wider window would return nothing extra while implying coverage that does not exist.

Applying within hours of a posting materially changes reply rates, which is why the default is the tightest window.

Adding your own jobs

Three ways to bring in a job Jobscout AI did not surface:

  • Add Job — paste a URL and details for a role you found elsewhere.
  • Job Board save — save a listing from the Drivetube Job Board.
  • Add anyway — override a held-back verdict.

Every added job runs the same six checks and the same scoring as a scouted one, so you see honestly whether the job you found actually fits. Added jobs pin to the top of your Jobscout AI tab regardless of score, because you put them there deliberately.

Quick filters

Sort or filter the visible list without leaving the page: Highest match, Least match, Sponsorship available, Likely sponsor, Newest first, Salary ↑ and Salary ↓. The two sponsorship options filter the list; the rest sort it. Salary is normalised to an annual figure first, so an hourly rate never outranks a real annual salary.

What Jobscout AI does not do

It does not scan automatically. Results appear when you tap Scout Now, and they persist for 24 hours so a refresh does not lose them. Unrequested results clear themselves daily.

It is also not infallible. The experience check is read from free-text job descriptions and is the check most likely to be wrong — the product says so on the page. Check a job before spending a tailoring credit on it.

Frequently asked questions

No. Jobscout AI reads your Base Resume only. There is no minimum match rate, no daily pace and no manual filters — the old Manage settings were removed in September 2026. The one control is the freshness window (24, 48 or 72 hours). If your matches are wrong, fix the country, domain or skills on your Base Resume; the matching follows from it.

Country and domain match, the listing is confirmed new, the stated experience fits your resume in both directions, you have not already applied to that company, no security clearance is required, and the employer has not ruled out visa sponsorship. Every check is printed on the job card, and a failed check is shown in red rather than hidden.

Out of 100: core stack skills 62, other skills 10, experience fit 20 and practical signals 8. Core stack skills are the technologies that define a stack — React, Spring Boot, Django. Generic tools like Git, SQL, Docker and AWS carry almost no weight, so a job whose only overlap is generic is flagged as having no core stack match rather than scored as a strong fit. Job titles are not scored at all.

Because titles are unreliable. A Supply Chain Analyst and a Logistics Coordinator can share every relevant skill, and two roles with the same title can be completely different jobs. Scoring the title would reward coincidences and punish genuine fits, so Jobscout AI scores the stack instead.

72 hours is how long the job board confirms a listing as newly posted. A wider window would return nothing extra while implying coverage that does not exist. The default is 24 hours because applying within hours of a posting materially changes reply rates.

Yes. A job added by URL, saved from the Job Board, or added from Held back runs the same six checks and the same scoring as a scouted job — including red marks for any check it fails. Added jobs pin to the top of the Jobscout AI tab regardless of score.

They should not. Results are saved for 24 hours, so refreshing the page restores your last scan rather than resetting to the pre-scan screen. Unrequested results clear themselves after 24 hours; anything you requested moves to the Requested tab and is kept.

Yes, and the page says so. The experience requirement is read from free-text job descriptions and is the check most likely to be misread. Every card shows its reasoning so you can sanity-check it, and you should read a job before confirming Tailor Resume.
