What Microsoft Word is
Microsoft Word is the traditional way to write and maintain a resume — a document file you edit, export and email.
Where it genuinely wins: Word gives you total control over every character, works offline, needs no account and everyone knows how to use it. For a one-off document you fully control, nothing is simpler.

Detailed analysis
The formatting tax
A bullet moves and the layout breaks. A section spills to a third page. Margins shift on someone else's machine. Fonts substitute. You spend an evening fixing spacing instead of applying to jobs.
This is not just annoying — formatting and parsing failures are one of the largest causes of resumes being rejected before a human reads them. A resume that looks perfect in Word can be read as garbage by a real ATS.
Drivetube removes the work entirely: update a field, download a print-ready ATS-parsable PDF in seconds. No layout to fix, no margins to nudge, no third page appearing. You do not need Word installed and there is no Mac-versus-Windows formatting argument.
resume_final_v2_updated.docx
Everyone has the folder. Seventeen versions and nobody knows which one went to which company.
One profile. One standard resume. Change a job title once and it changes everywhere, including the next PDF you download.
Word cannot be found
A .docx file sits on your machine. It has no link, no recruiter can discover it, it answers no questions about your visa status or notice period and nobody can send you an interview request through it.
The templates
Word's built-in resume templates and the free ones online are used by hundreds of thousands of applicants and have never been tested against a real ATS. Drivetube's 23 templates are the survivors of 145 designed and tested across 50+ real ATS platforms — only 65 parsed cleanly and 23 produced real interview calls. They are not available anywhere on the internet.

Frequently asked questions
No and avoiding it removes a real source of rejection. A Drivetube Profile lets you update a field and download a print-ready, ATS-parsable PDF in seconds — no layout to fix, no margins to nudge, no third page appearing because you added a bullet and no Word licence needed. This matters beyond convenience: formatting and parsing failures are one of the largest causes of resumes being rejected before a human reads them, so removing manual formatting removes an entire category of silent rejection.
Because ATS platforms parse text, not layout and Word documents frequently use text boxes, tables, headers, footers and multi-column layouts that parsers skip or scramble. Fonts substitute on other machines and spacing shifts. A resume that looks perfect on your screen can be read as garbage by Workday or Greenhouse. Drivetube's 23 templates were validated by running 145 designs through 50+ real ATS platforms, with only 65 parsing cleanly and 23 producing actual interview calls.
Stop keeping versions. The reason everyone has a folder full of resume_final_v2_updated.docx files is that each export is a separate copy that immediately starts going stale. A Drivetube Profile holds one standard resume as the single live copy — change a job title once and it changes everywhere, including the next PDF you download and every place you have shared your profile link.

Drivetube Hire — Hiring Without Job Postings
Drivetube Hire is a recruiting and candidate-matching platform with no job postings and no applications. Employers paste a real job description and AI matches it against candidates' true standard resumes, returning ranked candidates with a match percentage, matched and missing skills and written reasoning. Because every candidate has exactly one standard resume, the AI-tailored resumes that now defeat ATS keyword screens are structurally impossible. Hiring Snapshots answer visa status, expected salary, notice period and relocation before first contact, removing the first three or four screening calls. Plans run from a free tier (1 role, 5 interview requests, no card) to $1,788–$11,988 per year — pooled company-wide with unlimited team logins and no per-seat fees, against the 15–25% of first-year salary a recruitment agency commonly charges for a single hire.
