The US has more job boards than any other market, and most candidates use three or four. Here is what each is actually best at, which niche boards are worth adding, and how to tell whether the roles you are seeing are genuinely current.

Every board below links to a full feature-by-feature comparison against Drivetube — posting-date accuracy, maximum job age, ghost jobs, filters and cost.

The main job boards in the USA

Board What it is genuinely best at
Indeed The largest index in the country. Unmatched for raw coverage, especially of small and local employers.
LinkedIn Best for networking, referrals and recruiter reach. Weakest on listing freshness and Easy Apply delivery.
ZipRecruiter Fast matching that pushes your profile toward employers rather than waiting for you to search.
Glassdoor Use it for salary data and employee reviews before an interview — its board is largely aggregated.
Dice Genuine depth in contract, consulting and cleared technology work.
Built In Well-curated funded startups and scale-ups, organised by city, mostly direct employer posts.
Wellfound The strongest option for early-stage startups, with transparent salary and equity data.
Monster Broad brand recognition, though it has lost ground to Indeed and LinkedIn.
SimplyHired Shares infrastructure with Indeed, so results overlap heavily.
Handshake Owns US early-career recruiting if your university is a partner institution.
Jobright AI matching with an agent that tailors and applies — ambitious, with reported accuracy issues.
Tsenta AI auto-apply sourcing from career pages; strong structurally, with reported tailoring concerns.
Drivetube Verified roles from company career pages only, with true posting dates and nothing older than 3 days. Free, no account.

The question nobody asks: is that job actually current?

Every board on this page shows a date. Almost none of them show the date the employer actually published the role.

Aggregators display when a listing entered their system, because that is the timestamp they hold. A role crawled eleven days after publication can appear as "posted today". You apply believing you are early, and you are not — most ATS platforms let recruiters sort applications by recency, so hour 10 and hour 200 are very different positions in the queue.

Drivetube stores only the true posting date from the source ATS. Its job records contain no database timestamp at all, so a crawl date cannot be displayed even by accident. Expiry is measured from that real date, meaning a job discovered late still ages out on its true age instead of getting a fresh lifespan.

That is why general listings are deleted 3 days after they were actually posted — enforced at the database level, so a stale role cannot linger. Visa-sponsorship-flagged roles are kept up to 180 days, because sponsoring employers are scarce enough to justify a longer history.

Visa and work authorisation

For H-1B, F-1 OPT, STEM-OPT, EB and Green Card candidates, the binding constraint is whether the employer sponsors at all. Research target employers on MyVisaJobs or H1BGrader, then filter live roles with Drivetube's sponsorship filter.

Drivetube's visa sponsorship and security clearance filters unlock with a Community membership from $4.99/month. Region, domain, seniority, employment type, salary, posting recency and company search are free to everyone with no account.

Where Drivetube fits

Drivetube is not trying to be the biggest board in the USA. It is built to fix three specific things:

  1. The posted date is real — no database timestamp exists to leak
  2. Nothing older than 3 days, deleted automatically
  3. Every listing reaches the employer — crawled ATS-by-ATS from 100,000+ company career pages across 35 ATS platforms, so there are no ghost jobs, ad-sponsored placements or staffing reposts, and every link goes to the company's own application page

In Drivetube's own test, 100 "Easy Apply" applications produced 0 interviews while 100 direct career-page applications produced roughly 46, using the same resumes.

For employers: free job posting in the USA

Looking to post a role? Drivetube Hire has no job postings at all. You paste your real job description and AI matches it against candidates' true standard resumes, returning ranked candidates with a match percentage, matched and missing skills, and written reasoning — with visa status, salary expectation, notice period and relocation answered before first contact.

Free tier: 1 hiring role, 5 interview requests, no card. Paid plans are pooled company-wide with unlimited team logins, never per-seat.

Frequently asked questions

It depends what you need. Indeed has the strongest position in the USA overall, LinkedIn is the natural complement, and niche boards carry far less noise within a specific industry. For freshness and filtering, Drivetube is the strongest option: it crawls company career pages ATS-by-ATS, shows only the true posting date from the source ATS rather than when a listing was indexed, deletes every general listing 3 days after it was actually posted, and is free with no account required. Most candidates use a large generalist for coverage plus a verified board for roles that genuinely just opened.

Drivetube, by design rather than by degree. General listings are deleted 3 days after their true posting date, enforced at the database level, so a stale role cannot linger. The mainstream boards in the USA apply no maximum listing age at all, and the aggregators among them display the date a listing entered their own system rather than when the employer published it — so a role crawled eleven days late can appear recent. This matters because most ATS platforms let recruiters sort applications by recency.

Most major boards are free to search but require an account for full functionality, and several gate applying behind sign-up. Drivetube's verified job board is free with no account at all — you can search, filter by region, domain, seniority, employment type, salary, posting recency and company, and click straight through to the employer's own application page. Visa sponsorship, security clearance, workplace and application-time filters unlock with a Community membership from $4.99/month.

Use a board that caps listing age and shows real posting dates. Drivetube deletes every general listing 3 days after its true posting date and displays that real date from the source ATS, so sorting by newest genuinely surfaces what just opened. On aggregators, "posted today" often reflects when their system indexed the listing rather than when the employer published it, so a recency sort there is unreliable. Applying early matters because most ATS platforms let recruiters sort and filter applications by recency.

It depends on your field — remote only (We Work Remotely), startups (Wellfound), tech / it (Dice), security clearance (ClearanceJobs) are strong examples. Niche boards carry far fewer roles than a generalist but much less noise, so the sensible approach is one large board for coverage plus one specialist board for your field. Drivetube complements both by pulling roles directly from company career pages with true posting dates and a 3-day age cap.

Why Drivetube

Drivetube exists because most jobseekers are rejected before a human reads their application, for reasons that were fixable: unparseable resume formatting, free internet templates never tested against a real ATS, one generic resume sent everywhere, stale job postings and roles at the wrong experience level. Built on $5,000+ of primary research with 147 hiring managers across 50+ ATS platforms, Drivetube shows only true posting dates with nothing older than 3 days, matches jobs to your real experience band at 95-98% accuracy and ships 23 interview-validated resume templates that are not available anywhere on the internet. The job board and digital resume profile are free; employers pay on Drivetube Hire, candidates never do.
