What Reed is

Reed is a major UK job board with its own recruitment business behind it.

Where it genuinely wins: Reed is one of Britain's most recognised employment brands, with strong coverage across sectors and a long-established recruitment operation that gives it genuine relationships with UK employers.

This page is a straight feature comparison. Read the ❌ marks precisely — each means Reed does not offer that feature, not that it is a poor product.

Detailed analysis

The agency question

Because Reed operates its own recruitment business, a meaningful share of listings are agency roles. That is not inherently a problem — UK recruitment agencies fill real vacancies — but it means you frequently cannot tell whether you are applying to the employer or an intermediary, and the same vacancy may appear several times.

Drivetube crawls employer career pages only and excludes consultancy and staffing reposts, so every listing links to the company's own application page.

Missing controls

No maximum listing age, no sponsorship filter, no clearance filter, no application-time filter, and an account is required for full use. For candidates who need Skilled Worker sponsorship, the sponsorship gap matters most — an employer must hold a Home Office sponsor licence, so applications elsewhere are wasted.

Why the posting date is the deciding difference

Every job board displays a date. Almost none of them display the date the employer actually published the role.

Aggregators show when a listing entered their own system, because that is the timestamp they hold. A role crawled eleven days after publication appears recent, you apply believing you are early, and you are not.

Drivetube's job records contain no database timestamp at all. The only date stored is posted_date, read from the company's own ATS — so a crawl date cannot be displayed even by accident. Expiry is measured from that real date, meaning a job discovered late still ages out on its true age rather than getting a fresh lifespan.

This matters because most ATS platforms let recruiters sort and filter applications by recency. Applying at hour 10 rather than hour 200 is one of the very few advantages a candidate genuinely controls.

Which should you use?

Use Reed for what it is genuinely good at, described above — that value is real and this page does not dispute it.

Use Drivetube when you need:

  • Job listings that are provably current — nothing older than 3 days, real posting dates
  • Visa sponsorship or security clearance filtering
  • Pre-classified domain filtering instead of keyword guessing
  • Application-time filtering — sort by fastest to apply
  • Internships through executive roles on one board
  • A pool with zero ghost jobs and zero consultancy reposts, 25,000+ companies blocklisted
  • No account, no cost

Frequently asked questions

Reed has strong UK brand recognition and genuine employer relationships through its own recruitment business, which also means a meaningful share of listings are agency roles where you cannot easily tell whether you are applying to the employer or an intermediary. Drivetube crawls employer career pages only, excludes agency reposts, shows the true posting date, caps listing age at 3 days, and adds visa-sponsorship, security-clearance, domain and application-time filters — with no account required.

Under the Skilled Worker route an employer must hold a Home Office sponsor licence, so applications to employers without one are wasted regardless of fit. Reed, Totaljobs, CV-Library and Indeed UK do not offer a sponsorship filter. Drivetube has a dedicated one and retains sponsorship-flagged roles longer than general listings. Cross-referencing the Home Office's public register of licensed sponsors against your shortlist is also worth doing.

Drivetube Job Board

The Drivetube Job Board is a free, verified job board with no account required — around 70,000 live openings from ~9,000 companies, crawled ATS by ATS from 100,000+ real company career pages across 35 ATS platforms in the US, Europe, Canada, UK, India and Australia. Its defining difference is the posted date: most boards display the date their own system first saw a job, while Drivetube stores only the true posting date from the source ATS and no database timestamp at all, so a crawl date cannot be shown. Jobs are deleted 3 days after their real posting date (sponsorship roles are kept up to 180 days), there are no ghost jobs, ad-sponsored listings or staffing reposts, and every listing links to the company's own application page.

Why Drivetube

Drivetube exists because most jobseekers are rejected before a human reads their application, for reasons that were fixable: unparseable resume formatting, free internet templates never tested against a real ATS, one generic resume sent everywhere, stale job postings, and roles at the wrong experience level. Built on $5,000+ of primary research with 147 hiring managers across 50+ ATS platforms, Drivetube shows only true posting dates with nothing older than 3 days, matches jobs to your real experience band at 95-98% accuracy, and ships 23 interview-validated resume templates that are not available anywhere on the internet. The job board and digital resume profile are free; employers pay on Drivetube Hire, candidates never do.
